Dr. Shannon Baber, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr Shannon Baber obtained her bachelor's degree ('95) and Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine ('00) from Texas A&M. She has been in practice for the past 24 years and has come full circle to rejoin the team at Josey Ranch Pet Hospital. After a short stent in Maryland where she worked in a practice that offered both traditional care and holistic support, her interest was sparked in the eastern side of medicine. She first saw the need for a more integrative approach in pain management with some of her aging patients in which they struggled with arthritic pain that was either not well controlled by traditional medication or because they had underlying health issues that prevented the use of such meds. This interest led her to the Chi Institute in Florida, where she received her certification in Traditional Chinese Medical Evaluation and CVA (Certified Veterinary Acupuncture) in the Spring of 2017 and is happy to be able to offer her patients the best of both worlds.
She lives with her family in Frisco and is looking forward to joining the Empty Nester club in the fall. She was active in NCL with her daughter and continued that tradition with her son through YMSL. She continues to volunteer actively at Mane Gait and through her church family at St Andrews. Her professional interest includes internal medicine cases, dentistry, integrative medicine, and acupuncture. Outside of work you can find Dr Baber enjoying a hike with her short haired pointer, biking, learning golf, cooking, and finding a little zen at the yoga studio.
