How often should my pet have a wellness exam?

Routine exams play a vital role in maintaining your pet’s health. We have a general recommendation for the following age groups:

  • Adult Pets (1-7 years): During this stage of life, we recommend at least one wellness exam per year
  • Senior Pets (7+ years depending on breed): At such an important stage in life, we strongly recommend at least 2 wellness exams per year

What signs indicate my pet should see a veterinarian?

Recognizing when your pet needs veterinary care is crucial for maintaining their health and preventing serious complications. Pets cannot communicate their discomfort or symptoms the way humans do. Below are some common signs that indicate you should visit a vet:

  1. Changes in Behavior: Lethargy, aggression, hiding, or unusual vocalization
  2. Appetite and Drinking Habits: Loss of appetite, excessive thirst, or refusal to eat/drink
  3. Vomiting or Diarrhea: Frequent, severe, or prolonged episodes
  4. Breathing Issues: Labored, rapid, or noisy breathing
  5. Physical Injuries: Cuts, wounds, limping, or signs of pain
  6. Swelling or Lumps: New growths or swelling anywhere on the body
  7. Weight Loss or Gain: Rapid or unexplained changes
  8. Skin Problems: Itching, hair loss, redness, sores, or rashes
  9. Eye or Nose Discharge: Persistent or unusual discharge
  10. Urination Changes: Difficulty, accidents, blood in urine, or changes in frequency
  11. Signs of Pain: Whining, reluctance to move, or sensitivity to touch
  12. Seizures or Collapsing: Sudden episodes of unconsciousness or convulsions
  13. Bad Breath or Drooling: May indicate dental issues or other health problems
  14. Any Other Sudden or Severe Changes: Unexplained symptoms or emergency situations
