Dr. Marla Teixeira, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Marla Teixeira was born in Lima, Peru and moved to Florida in 2002. Growing up her family always made sure there was at least one four-legged companion in the house and by the age of 5 she knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. Moving from a big city to a rural town in Florida sparked Dr. Teixeira’s interest for agriculture and large animals. All throughout high school she was involved with her local FFA chapter and she would later pursue a veterinary degree with a mixed animal tract.
After high school, she attended University of Florida (Go Gators!) and graduated with her B.S. in Animal Science with a specialization in Animal Biology and a minor in Business Administration. She then attended veterinary school at St. George’s University on the beautiful island of Grenada and completed her clinical year at Oklahoma State University in 2019.
After obtaining her veterinary degree, Dr. Teixeira’s interest in large animal medicine landed her in the state of Texas for the first two years of her career where she practiced medicine on all animals, from small rabbits to bucking bulls. However, her passion for small animal medicine led her to move to the north Dallas area. Dr. Teixeira’s interests include ophthalmology, soft tissue surgery, shelter medicine and large animal medicine.
In her free time, Dr. Teixeira enjoys going on hikes with her dog Lucky, reading, traveling, attending/hosting game nights, working out on her Peloton and binge-watching Netflix shows with her three adorable cats Mycroft, Moka and Pepper.
